O płycie

Od 1987 roku Roger Waters - twórca "The Dark Side of the Moon" oraz "The Wall" grupy Pink Floyd - pracował nad niezwykłym dziełem w 3 aktach, o pierwszych dniach Rewolucji Francuskiej. Projektem zainteresowali go nieżyjący już kompozytor Etienne Roda-Gil i jego żona Nadine, którzy napisali libretto do tej opery. Jej dźwiękowa wersja została utrwalona na płytach, a do nagrania Waters zaprosił tak wybitnych artystów, jak charyzmatyczny wokalista Bryn Terfel (baryton), Ying Huang (sopran) - gwiazda filmu "Madame Butterfly" Frédérica Mitteranda - i Paul Groves (tenor). Dodatkowo artystom towarzyszą chóry: London Voices, Italia Conti Childrens Choir i The London Oratory Choir. Płyta z zapisem "Ça Ira" ukazała się w przededniu prapremiery plenerowej wersji widowiska, uświetniającej obchody 50-lecia wydarzeń Poznańskich. Polska wersja płyty została opatrzona tłumaczeniem libretta i szatą graficzną nawiązującą do widowiska prapremierowego. Wyrazem szczególnego uznania dla Polaków jest ręczna dedykacja Rogera Watersa z tyłu płyty: "To my Polish friends".
"To coś więcej niż historia Francuskiej Rewolucji - to opowieść o ludzkich możliwościach zmian" - powiedział Roger Waters po zakończeniu pracy nad "Ça ira".
