Czwarty studyjny album nowojorskiej formacji. Płyta powstała w studio nagraniowym Electric Lady Studios na Manhattanie. Płytę promowały single "Lights" i "Barricade". "Interpol" był ostatnim albumem zespołu nagranym z basistą Carlosem Denglerem, który opuścił zespól tuż po nagraniu płyty.
