O płycie

Dwupłytowa kolekcja zawierająca najlepsze utwory z repertuaru irlandzkiej grupy, łączącej tradycyjny folk z punk rockiem i rockabilly. Na pierwszej płycie znalazły się wersje studyjne, a na drugiej Shane MacGowan z kolegami prezentuje swoje żywiołowe oblicze koncertowe. Nagrania z drugiej płyty zarejestrowano w sali "Brixton Academy" w Londynie, w 2001 roku. Ówczesna trasa była pierwszą po kilkuletniej przerwie. W 1991 roku, z powodu swoich nieustannych problemów alkoholowo-narkotykowych, ze składu wyleciał MacGowan. Na jego miejsce na cztery lata przyjęto Joe Strummera z The Clash, ale to nie było to "właściwe" The Pogues. "The Ultimate Collection" zawiera utwory z pięciu studyjnych płyt, nagranych w latach 1983-1991, m.in. "Fairytale of New York", "If I Should Fall From Grace With God", "Sunnyside Of The Street", "Hells Ditch", "Rain Street", czy "The Irish Rover".
