"The Guessing Game" to pierwszy dwupłytowy album w długiej historii brytyjskiej, doommetalowej formacji Cathedral, prowadzonej przez Lee Dorriana, niegdysiejszego wokalistę Naplam Death. Przy jego produkcji, podobnie jak przy okazji poprzedniej płyty "Garden Of Unearthly Delights" (2005), zespół współpracował z Warrenem Rikerem (m.in. Down, Crowbar). Okładką, tradycyjnie, zajął się Dave Patchett. W utworze "Funeral Of Dreams" gościnnie zaśpiewała Alison O'Donnel z irlandzkiej folk rockowej grupy Mellow Candle z lat 70. Duch Black Sabbath wiecznie żywy.
